Although not a common occurrence, the Reservations of the Tribe are susceptible to drought. There are three types of droughts.
A meteorological drought is a period of time, generally ranging from months to years, during which time the actual moisture supply at a given location consistently falls short of the climatological moisture supply.
Another type of drought is the hydrological drought, where stream flows and reservoirs are low due to a lack of prolonged rainfall.
Another type of drought is the agricultural drought. This occurs when the amount of water needed for crops is greater than the amount produced in the atmosphere or that which is available from other sources.
Warning time for drought is long, since drought events take place over long periods of time. In times of drought, water restrictions and rationing may be put into effect.
Droughts can lead to agricultural damage, environmental damage, and shortage of water needed for utilities and firefighting.
